Best Practice N°33 - Level 2- Section files for download

Description

The downloadable files are provided in at least one format whose specifications are in the public domain.

Objectives

Enable users to access downloadable files whatever their system and whatever their tools

Possible technical solutions:

Provide files in formats that are open and for which there exist readers for Windows, Linux and Macintosh (for example .ogg for sound, .rtf or .pdf for text) If not provide various formats for the same content (for example Quicktime, Real or Windows media for video.)

Control methods:

Verify that it is possible to access and open downloadable files on machines running various operating systems such as Windows, Linux or Macintosh.
