Best Practice N°68- Level2- Section navigation

Description

If all of the site’s pages are not accessible from the main navigation menu a site map is accessible from all of the pages.

Objectives

Provides the users with a solution in the event of their getting lost, to navigate throughout the site with points of reference, to visualize the totality of information on the site. Incites administrators to graphically represent and to rationalize their content.

Possible technical solutions:

The site map lists all the pages on the site in the form of lists of explicite textual lists. These are organised in a way that reflects the architecture of the site’s sections through titles and list elements.

Control methods:

Check for the presence of a site map and for links twards it from all the pages in the site.
